A FILM BY ALEX BEZEAU
"Mussolini’s Chicken offers a chilling portrait of a family - and a country - traumatized by fascism."
-Dr. Joshua Arthurs, Professor of History and Italian Studies at the University of Toronto
Haunted by his grandmother’s silence, a filmmaker investigates his fascist great-grandfather and the devotion to Mussolini that tore his family apart.
MUSSOLINI’S CHICKEN is a deeply personal documentary feature about one family’s hidden past and the slippery slope of fascism. As filmmaker Alex Bezeau pieces together the fragmented story of his great-grandfather Giovanni—a man who answered Mussolini’s every call—he uncovers the devastating consequences of a life shaped by a fascist dictator.
What begins as a search for one man’s past becomes a powerful investigation into how ordinary people can be drawn into authoritarianism—and how the choices they make can leave scars that echo through generations.
